Tekniska verken, the electricity grid company in Linköping, is reviewing its power fee policy following pressure from the Swedish government. The company is one of over 30 electricity grid operators that had introduced power fees for customers after the Energy Market Inspectorate (Energimarknadsinspektionen) required all such companies to implement the fees by January 2027.

Initially, Tekniska verken chose to maintain the fee even after the government decided to remove the requirement. However, after Energy Minister Ebba Busch (Christian Democrats) demanded that electricity companies eliminate the power fees, the Linköping-based company announced it would conduct a new review.

Jesper Hagbom, division manager for distribution at Tekniska verken, stated that most customers received lower network fees when the power component was introduced. "A majority of electricity customers have gotten lower fees. The customers who have utilized the network more have had to pay a little more," Hagbom said.

The power fee system was designed to even out electricity consumption on the grid, with customers using large amounts of electricity simultaneously paying more than those with more consistent consumption patterns. Tekniska verken emphasized the importance of not making hasty decisions and moving forward collectively within the industry.
