Enzo Bettamio, 18, of no fixed address, was formally charged on Saturday with the murder of Kamonnan Thiamphanit, also known as Angela. The charge relates to a stabbing at a property in Bayswater, west London, on 6 April 2024. Police found Thiamphanit at her home in Stanhope Place at about 8.30am with multiple stab wounds; she was pronounced dead at the scene. Thiamphanit, who had dual Chinese-Hong Kong and Thai nationality, worked in property management and had lived in the UK for about nine years.

Bettamio was extradited on a flight from Dubai to the UK on Friday after joint inquiries by the Metropolitan Police and specialist lawyers in the Crown Prosecution Service’s extradition and international units. He appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, where he spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth. He was remanded into custody to appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday. No plea was entered.

Thiamphanit’s family are aware of the update and continue to be supported by specialist officers. Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, leading the investigation, said: “I would also like to express my sincere thanks to Angela’s family and friends for their patience and unwavering support to the investigation, throughout what has been an incredibly difficult and distressing time for them.”
