Teen boys arrested in Rogaland explosion plot
Key Points
  • Two Rogaland teens arrested for explosion conspiracy
  • Case linked to Foxtrot network exploiting youth for crime
  • Investigation nears completion with digital evidence review

According to police, two boys aged 16 and 17 from Rogaland were arrested and charged with conspiracy to cause danger to the public. A third person, a man in his 20s, was arrested in the Netherlands and extradited to Norway; he is also charged in this case, which is being investigated by Oslo police district. The man previously had ties to Sunnhordland and faces additional charges of gross illegal possession of firearms linked to two shootings at private homes.

Police say the investigation revealed the boys were to travel to Oslo to carry out an explosion, though the exact time and place remain unknown. The case is seen in connection with several incidents in Oslo and surrounding areas last autumn, when criminal networks exploited youth for tasks. Police attorney Unni Byberg Malmin said the investigation has shown a possible connection to the Foxtrot network, led by Rawa Majid, also known as the Kurdish Fox.

The investigation is nearing completion, with thorough interviews and digital evidence review. In October, a 15-year-old was arrested after a grenade explosion at a Strømmen restaurant, and in September, two 13-year-olds were arrested after an explosion at Pilestredet in Oslo. In a separate case, three men are charged with gross vandalism after shots were fired at a private residence in Sandefjord; no one was injured.

One admitted to firing several shots at a house wall, while another admitted to multiple vandalism acts and the third denies wrongdoing. Police attorney An Eline Rimstad Johansen said the shots were not random and there is no reason for public unrest, citing a conflict in a known environment. Last week, three Swedish citizens were convicted of attempting to kidnap a man in Sandefjord over a debt.

In another incident, police responded with weapons and dogs after a man was reportedly threatened with a weapon, arresting four people known to police. No firearm was discharged, and all were released after questioning. Lawyer Christian Flemmen Johansen said the case appeared less serious than initially thought.

The judge wrote that the conspiracy aimed to kill as many Jews as possible by driving through a synagogue congregation.

In Kristiansand, eight men were charged after forcing a person into a car and subjecting another to violence; one more is wanted. All denied guilt in detention hearings. Police attorney Sondre Kristian Halvorsen said the extensive case will take time.

Eight people are now charged for a shooting at a Skjetten residence where at least two shotgun shots were fired while residents slept. Three are detained, and the rest will face detention hearings. All are in their 20s and 30s, known to police, and charged with gross illegal possession of firearms.

One was previously convicted for a kidnapping and sentenced to preventive detention. Prosecuting authority Silje Haugerstuen Bergsholm said police have good control over the scene and shooter. In Sweden, a prosecutor requested three people detained for attempted murder after a shooting in Fagersjö, with two more arrested for aiding.

Suspects are aged 15–30. In Hordaland, three people face pre-trial detention for complicity in forced marriage and child marriage of a minor girl. Police attorney An Eline Rimstad Johansen said they could destroy evidence if released.

In Karlskoga, two men were detained after a suspected bullet hole was found in a door; the case is classified as attempted murder.
