A taxi driver has been convicted of sexually harassing a female passenger during a taxi ride in Jämtland County, according to court documents reported by SVT Jämtlandsnytt. The incident occurred during a November evening last year when the woman ordered a taxi to meet friends.
During the approximately 30-minute ride, the taxi driver allegedly began touching the woman inappropriately, placing his hands on her thighs and genital area. He also reportedly took her hand and placed it on his genitals while discussing his sexual preferences, according to the woman's testimony to the court.

The court noted that the offense warranted imprisonment level punishment because it occurred in an environment where people should expect not to be subjected to harassment: a taxi ride. However, after a comprehensive assessment of the specific case, the court determined that a conditional sentence combined with fines would be "a sufficiently intrusive measure" against the taxi driver.
