The water company Sydvatten has issued an urgent appeal to residents and businesses in western Skåne to immediately reduce their drinking water consumption. This request comes as water levels in Vombsjön, a key water source for the region, have reached historically low levels for this time of year. According to Skånska Dagbladet, the water level is approximately two meters below normal, creating concerns about water supply sustainability.
Sydvatten CEO Mattias Leijon stated, 'Try to reduce consumption immediately,' emphasizing the severity of the situation. The low water levels were reportedly documented by local fisherman Leif Nilsson, who showed the significant drop from normal levels. The water company's conservation request targets both private households and commercial operations in the affected area.
