Swimmer Anna-Carin Nordin will swim 40 miles along Sweden's Göta Canal over three weeks, starting on May 17 in Mem near Norrköping and aiming to finish in Gothenburg in early June. Nordin, the first woman to complete the 'Oceans Seven' challenge of seven long and often dangerous swims across famous straits and channels worldwide, plans to swim two miles per day. She aims to show that women can achieve such feats and showcase Sweden's nature, while also starting a fundraiser for the Heart and Lung Foundation in memory of her father, who recently died of cancer.

During the swim, she will stay in cottages along the route, accompanied by two friends: one driving a car with necessities and another, Steven from the Isle of Man, paddling a kayak alongside her for safety.
