According to official sources, the teachers wanted to do something different with their students, leading to the guitar-building initiative. The students have tested their skills together with a Hudiksvall company that builds guitars, though the company's name has not been disclosed. Examples of student designs include Elias Friberg, 12 years old, who chose to take inspiration from the 90s, and Lo Heed, 12 years old, who opted for something more colorful.
According to SVT Gävleborg (official), Lo Heed described wanting her guitar to have a lot of colors and elements she likes. Students are not only working on the project in woodworking class. In sewing class, they make the straps.
We only do this because it's fun, and to spread the joy of creation. But in the future, we hope that more schools can become interested in building guitars with us.
In art class, students work on the design of their guitars. A video was made in collaboration with Lilla Aktuellt to document the project. According to SVT Gävleborg (official), Fredrik Humlin, a guitar maker involved, described the effort as fun and aimed at spreading the joy of creation, with hopes that more schools might become interested in building guitars with them in the future.
The specific school location, number of participants, project timeline, and whether students will keep the guitars remain unknown.
I want it to have a lot of colors and a lot of things that I like on it.
