From March 5, Swedish schools can watch the British Netflix hit Adolescence via Filmriket Play, completely free of charge. There is a teacher's guide for the series that, together with the series, should facilitate conversations in the classroom about young people's vulnerability, digital dangers, and destructive online environments. The teacher's guide for the series was developed by Filmriket in collaboration with Friends.
It should function as support for teachers in the important, but not always easy, conversation about young people's digital everyday life. Kristoffer Pettersson, development manager in the film area at Region Örebro län and a member of Filmriket's steering group, is very pleased with this news. He said, 'Just like many others, I was completely floored by Adolescence when I first saw the series.
' Adolescence portrays a 13-year-old boy who is accused of murder, and the series highlights the complex reality many young people face, not least online. Kristoffer Pettersson added, 'The series is an opportunity to reach into a digital world that many adults have limited insight into. ' Filmriket is a free national platform for film literacy that gives children and young people throughout Sweden the opportunity to understand, create, and critically review moving images, regardless of background and school environment.
It is not known how many Swedish schools are expected to use the series and teacher's guide, nor what specific content is included in the teacher's guide for Adolescence.
