Swedish Radio summer talk finalists selected, one drops out
Key Points
  • Swedish Radio selected eight final candidates from nearly 400 applications for its summer talk program, with three from Kalmar County.
  • Robin Larmérus, a firefighter with military experience, proposes a talk on his Ukraine trips and firefighting career.
  • One candidate has dropped out, leaving seven contenders for public voting until May 3, with the host announced on May 28 and broadcast on July 22.

Robin Larmérus, a firefighter for fifteen years with a previous military background, has proposed a summer talk largely focused on his trips to deliver equipment to war-torn Ukraine, as well as his life as a firefighter and career in the Swedish Armed Forces. From the applications, eight final candidates were selected, and three of them are from Kalmar County. The three final candidates from Kalmar County are Robin Larmérus, Stina Andersson from Degerhamn, and Valentina Morán from Västervik.

Stina Andersson would, if selected, talk about life as a birdwatcher, while Valentina Morán would discuss fleeing from Chile to Sweden. Voting on the different contributions runs until May 3, with the listener's summer host to be presented on May 28 and the program broadcast on July 22 in P1. On Friday, Sommar i P1 announced that one candidate has chosen to drop out.

There are now seven people that the public can vote for. It is unknown which candidate withdrew or why, and the number of votes cast so far has not been disclosed. The exact topics or titles of each candidate's proposed talks, including specifics on the equipment Larmérus delivered to Ukraine, remain unclear.
