A band called Krasch, with an average age over 80, has formed through a music project in Robertsfors, Sweden. The project, called Jamma Generation, started last year and is a three-year initiative aimed at giving pensioners in the municipality the opportunity to play music together. It focuses on lifelong learning and creating community across generations.
Participants do not need prior musical experience. Gerd Nilsson, a member of Krasch, says it is very developmental to continue doing new things throughout life. Börje Olofsson, 86, is a beginner on keyboard in the band and finds it challenging to follow English songs.
