Dagen is offering free reading to all up to age 25, according to multiple reports. Felicia Ferreira, editor-in-chief of Dagen, said the initiative is especially important during the election year 2026. "We want to give young people journalism they can trust so they can form their own opinion about Sweden and the world," she said. Dagen aims to help young people navigate opinions in their feeds during the election year, Ferreira added. "We see that young people are interested in news, but also in what is happening in their own vicinity, in the congregation, in relationships with family and friends, and issues concerning their everyday life and life choices." She also noted that if they can help give young people good habits, like reading news and understanding both the big picture and their own everyday life, they want to do that. "It is also about encountering stories that confirm human value beyond performance and status."
Tidningen Ångermanland/Allehanda is opening its news site for people aged 18 to 25, multiple reports indicate. In Örnsköldsvik, about 1,000 young people will vote for the first time. The offer includes access to Dagens Nyheter, Expressen, and about 70 other local newspapers. Dala-Demokraten offers free access for 18-25 year olds for 12 months, including DN, Expressen, all live sports, and news from Dalarna. Sundsvalls Tidning states that 2026 is an election year and first-time voters should have access to credible journalism. Eric Westlund described Sundsvalls Tidning's offer as a 'super deal'. "This is a super deal and maybe they will also find a lot of other things in the big mix of local journalism from their immediate area that tempts them to stay even in the future. We hope so, of course," he said.

It is not yet known how many young people have signed up for the free subscriptions so far, or what the total cost or financial model behind these offers is. It is also unclear whether the free subscriptions will automatically convert to paid ones after the promotional period.
