A nurse in Harplinge, Sweden, acted as a surrogate mother for two fathers, despite surrogacy not being permitted in Swedish healthcare. Jessica Hyldegård offered to be a surrogate mother on social media and received responses from around fifty couples. She chose the two fathers and underwent treatment at a clinic in San Diego, USA.

The process cost the couple approximately one million kronor. Hyldegård received compensation from the couple for lost work income over nine weeks, two trips to the clinic for her and her family, and maternity clothes. The child was born at the hospital in Halmstad.

Hyldegård believes Sweden should allow surrogacy, calling it a significant gift to help those who cannot have children themselves.
