The Swedish Navy has launched a significant construction project at Rosenholm in Karlskrona, converting forest land into new military facilities. According to Fortifikationsverket, the Swedish Defense Administration, work has begun on clearing 15,000 square meters of woodland to make way for expanded military infrastructure.

The project, which involves the Swedish Navy moving land-based operations from Trossö to Rosenholm, includes construction of driving tracks for training new military drivers, storage facilities, workshops, and vehicle maintenance halls. Martin Göth, the naval base commander, explained the rationale behind the expansion: "We're moving out everything that has wheels to make room for everything that floats."

Gustav Lindström of Fortifikationsverket confirmed that tree clearing has commenced, noting that the area has become dangerous for public access during construction. The site, which previously featured a 3-kilometer public light trail, is now closed to civilians. The Defense Forces repurchased the area last year as part of their expansion plans to meet growing operational requirements.

The comprehensive construction project is scheduled for completion in 2028, representing a significant investment in Sweden's military infrastructure amid increasing security demands.
