Key Points
  • Knivsta has a plan to reduce noise along Gredelbyleden amid resident complaints about an aging fence.
  • Traffic noise concerns are rising in Horndal and Garpenberg due to increased heavy traffic.
  • A major hospital project in Moelv is expected to double the population and bring significant noise and traffic impacts.

In Knivsta, the municipality has a plan to reduce noise along Gredelbyleden. Residents along that road have complained about traffic noise to the municipality. The wooden fence along Gredelbyleden, installed in 1985, is now faded, bulging in places, and has large gaps.

In Horndal, heavy traffic has always been a feature, with Highway 68 cutting right through the village. Marie Krantz expressed concern in P4 Dalarna that heavy traffic would increase further due to Google's ground work starting in mid-November. Traffic to the mine in Garpenberg has also increased.

A major hospital project in Moelv is set to bring significant changes, with the new Mjøssykehuset to be built there, starting construction in 2028. The hospital building mass will be 135,000 square meters, located close to the house of Are Koppang and Elin Evensen. A new road will pass 6,000 cars daily right outside the fence of their house.

Then it's not just Google, traffic to the mine in Garpenberg has also increased.

5 times as large as the Royal Palace in Oslo. Around 4,000 people will work at Mjøssykehuset, in addition to patients and relatives. The population of Moelv is expected to double in a few years due to the hospital project.

The municipality of Habo and Mullsjö is investigating a noise complaint in Mullsjö, with suspicion that the sound comes from the plastic factory Amcor. The noise is suspected to come from multiple sources, possibly a fan or the sound of plastic granules being injected into silos under high pressure from a truck. Johan Bolin, logistics manager at Amcor, is skeptical that the noise comes from their factory.

In Mönsterås, a resident, Barbara Eriksson, has complained about extensive disturbances including noise, dust, and vibrations from an ongoing water and sewage work on Kuggås. The work began in the fall of 2025 and is expected to last until summer 2026. Safety concerns have arisen in Finsjö, where several signs within the water protection area are unreadable, which could have devastating consequences in case of an accident.

Potential flight noise may occur in the areas around Falun and Borlänge during the night towards Thursday, April 9.
