Swedish handball stars Jamina Roberts and Nathalie Hagman are retiring from the national team. Their final match will be a European Championship qualifier against Lithuania in Kosta on April 12, which ends the national team season. Roberts, 35, and Hagman, 34, have been part of the national team for over 15 years.
Roberts said it felt right to retire after the latest World Championship, where Sweden finished 15th, a major disappointment for a team aiming for a medal. She stated that if they had won or come second, she might have felt differently, but she feels far from the world top and lacks motivation. Hagman described it as difficult after being part of something for so long that was very, very fun, noting they had a fine period in recent years that they helped build.
