The Swedish Coast Guard conducted checks on crew members of 89 merchant ships that called at Swedish ports between January 26 and February 15. The checks reportedly showed relatively good sobriety at the helm. In one case, there was suspicion of drunkenness at sea involving the captain of a tanker that arrived in Uddevalla.
According to reports, the captain accepted a summary penalty order for drunkenness at sea, resulting in 60 day fines totaling 49,000 kronor.
