Key Points
  • Record-breaking 977 entries from 92 schools in Swedish birdhouse championship
  • 15 finalists across three age categories, including Agnes Granberg with clock-converted birdhouse
  • Digital voting open until April 12, winners announced April 21

The competitors are divided into three age categories. Among the finalists, Agnes Granberg, who attends the technology program at Björknäsgymnasiet in Boden, represents Norrbotten. She is competing in the class for junior high and high school students against five other finalists.

Agnes Granberg chose to convert a clock into a birdhouse, and she has a childhood trauma from seeing the wild birds in the film Ronja Rövardotter. According to SVT Nyheter, Agnes Granberg described being terrified of birds, saying they are welcome to move in after the competition but she will not go near. She also described believing she can win because she has worked with recycling, according to SVT Nyheter.

A digital voting is ongoing on the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation's website from March 25 to April 12. The winners will be presented on April 21.
