According to her son Matti Bye, Birgitta Andersson died on Sunday after a short illness. ' Born in 1933 in Mariestad, she became interested in acting early and attended Pickwickklubbens teaterskola. She started her career with the dream of performing heavy Russian drama but did not get many such roles, though she was engaged at Dramaten in Stockholm for several years.

She got her big breakthrough in Hagge Geigert's summer revue in 1960. She became best known as a comedian, with a sense of timing and sharp lines. On the revue stage, she collaborated with Karl Gerhard, Hagge Geigert, Povel Ramel, and Hasse & Tage.

She got her real breakthrough in the Christmas calendar 'Gumman som blev liten som en tesked' in 1967. On TV, she played the role of Teskedsgumman in that series. She gave life to several of television storytelling's most beloved and funny characters, such as Hedvig Hök in 'From A to Ö' and Teskedsgumman.

She also left her mark on roles such as Trollet Tova in the Christmas calendar 'Trolltider' and Dynamit-Harry's girlfriend Doris in the 'Jönssonligan' films.
