They improved in the third period, leading by six points late, but Estonia pulled away in the fourth period. According to reports, Sweden was missing key players including Simon Birgander and Pelle Larsson. This was Sweden's third consecutive loss in the qualifiers, leaving them last in their group.
Sweden will face Estonia again in a rematch.
