SVT is planning to save 355 million kronor, with 220 million of that to be taken from its programming activities. This has led to significant concern among production companies. According to Anders Knave, chairman of the industry organization Film & tv-producenternas tv-sektion, production companies have had several tough years and are just beginning to recover, but margins remain small.
SVT is currently analyzing how to implement the savings, with program director Michael Österlund stating that production companies are very important to SVT and that the analysis will look broadly and deeply, without favoring internal or external options. The analysis on how SVT will carry out the savings is set to be completed around the turn of the month between March and April.
