A mini-documentary by SVT reporters Caroline Slotte and Maja Tengnér has been nominated for the Swedish Red Cross journalist prize. The documentary investigated child and adolescent psychiatry (BUP) in Västmanland and revealed that an unusually high number of children were restrained within compulsory care in Västerås. Slotte described heartbreaking stories from children and their relatives, including daily alarms and screams on the ward, and parents having to act as staff and hold down their children.

The Red Cross considers it one of ten reports from around the world that have increased understanding of the humanitarian consequences and complexity of today's crises or disasters, both globally and in Sweden. Slotte said it is good that a local investigation is highlighted among all the incredibly fine reports from around the world and that the spotlight is on psychiatry and the brave patients they met. The documentary is titled 'De bältade barnen' (The Belted Children).
