The Swedish men's national deaf futsal team has lost its qualification for the Deaflympics 2027 due to a rule change by the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD). The Swedish Deaf Sports Federation (SDI) states that ICSD removed the rule linking qualification to the world ranking after the World Championships, directly affecting Sweden. Previously, Sweden had been informed that the team was already qualified and did not need to play in the European Championships.
SDI criticizes the change as unacceptable and contrary to several ICSD statutes, and is seeking a formal meeting with ICSD while receiving legal advice from the Swedish Sports Confederation.
