The Swedish Transport Agency has issued a prohibition of use for the ship, reportedly due to identified deficiencies, according to press spokesperson Mikael Andersson. The decision was made after an operation on Saturday morning.

The prohibition means the ship, which is on the EU sanctions list, cannot travel further until the deficiencies are rectified, with the responsibility lying with the shipping company. When Sea Owl I was boarded, a preliminary investigation was reportedly initiated for deficient seaworthiness, use of false documents, serious crimes, and other offenses against maritime law.
