Visby Hospital in Gotland, Sweden, has faced major problems with sterilization technology this week, leading to canceled operations. The Swedish Armed Forces, in collaboration with Region Gotland, has begun work to prepare a container with military sterilization equipment for operation. According to the Armed Forces, the container will be put into operation as soon as the equipment and installation are validated and approved.
Johan Silfverstolpe, staff physician at the Gotland Regiment, said it is very positive to use society's collective resources where they are currently needed most. Marie Loob, health and medical care director at Region Gotland, called it a very valuable support and a concrete example of how total defense should work in practice.
