A Swedish woman in her 20s was critically injured in a skiing accident on Japan's Mount Fuji, according to reports from Swedish media citing Japanese sources. The accident occurred on Monday when the woman and two other individuals began climbing the mountain early in the morning. When they attempted to ski back down around 3 PM, something caused the Swedish woman and a New Zealand man in his 50s to veer off course and slide down the side of the mountain.
A rescue team searched for the two missing individuals for several hours, locating them around 11 PM. The rescue operation continued into the next morning when the team successfully transported both injured individuals by helicopter to a hospital approximately ten miles south of Tokyo. The Swedish woman's condition is reported as critical, according to Japanese media reports.
