Key Points
  • A sunroom at Linehuset elderly care home provides a warm, beach-themed space for residents during winter.
  • The room has hosted activities like sing-alongs and conversations since 2022, offering community when it is cold outside.
  • Aftonbladet reports a sunroom at Brogården aims to improve health, but its relation to Linehuset is unknown.

It is still cold outside, but a few floors down, in the basement of the elderly care home Linehuset, there is a completely different season. According to sources, there is a sunroom that is bright, warm, and decorated to remind of a day at the beach. Since 2022, the sunroom has been an important gathering place for residents during the dark part of the year.

In the room, everything from festive sing-alongs to calm conversations is held. Monica Anderberg-Prytz, the home's activity manager, says that during the winter half-year, many come down and want a little warmth. When the cold makes it difficult to be outside, the room offers a place where one can sit down, talk for a while, and almost forget that it is winter.

When summer comes, the community moves outside instead. Aftonbladet reports that there is a sunroom at Brogården, and it is intended to provide better health – physically and mentally. It is not known whether the sunroom at Brogården is the same as the one at Linehuset or a different facility.

The specific health benefits or outcomes measured from using the sunroom have not been detailed. The funding or costs associated with maintaining the sunroom are also unclear.
