Summer course applications hit record high in Sweden

Applications to study during the summer continue to increase in Sweden and have set a new record. The largest increase is at Mid Sweden University, which has campuses in both Östersund and Sundsvall. Last summer, 16,416 people applied to one of Mid Sweden University's summer courses; this year the number has increased to 21,819.

Pär Olausson, dean of the Faculty of Humanities, said it might continue to increase for a few more years, but as birth cohorts are declining, he believes it will eventually go down. The number of applications has increased steadily across Sweden over the past ten years. In 2016, 38,359 people applied; today the figure is 65,955.
