Student Safety Representatives Lead School's First Work Environment Week
Key Points
  • Kimmo and Leo monitor daily school issues and advocate for improvements
  • They initiated the school's first work environment week to gather student feedback
  • Leo will leave his role this summer, with efforts to recruit new representatives from grade 6

Kimmo and Leo, the student safety representatives, monitor factors that affect daily school life, such as broken electrical outlets or incorrect classroom temperatures, and raise these issues to school leadership after talking to students. Kimmo was elected to the role through a class vote, while Leo was the only one who wanted to take on the position. The representatives took the initiative for the school's first work environment week.

During the week, Kimmo and Leo sat at the main entrance, handed out notes, answered questions, and met students from different grades. A suggestion box was available all week and filled up quickly. Leo will leave his role as student safety representative this summer because he is in grade 9.

To encourage more students to take over, those in grade 6 received extra information during the work environment week.
