Strömsunds kommun has turned to Kronofogden to collect and scrap some of the cars and car parts on several properties in the municipality. The municipality first received complaints from residents in 2007 about vehicles they did not own being left on their properties. The vehicles are owned by a man in his 70s, who is the registered owner of around 300 vehicles.
In 2024, after years of legal processes, the municipality approached Kronofogden to scrap some of the cars. The vehicle owner has appealed the decision to Hovrätten, arguing that Kronofogden's assessment that the vehicles lack value is incorrect and that the municipality's decision lacks legal support. He also states in his appeal that he has disposed of a large part of the vehicles and has attached a valuation list for about 25 of them, estimating their total value at more than 300,000 kronor.
SVT has attempted to reach the vehicle owner for an interview without success.
