Rescue services responded to a significant oil spill in Valboviken harbor in Lysekil on Monday morning. According to reports, the spill was discovered in the small boat harbor north of Lysekil's center, with oil visible across the entire Valboviken bay and beyond. Mattias Jonasson, the duty officer at Räddningstjänsten Fyrbodal, stated that the spill was larger than initially expected.
Rescue services have contained the entire Valboviken bay to prevent the oil from spreading further. The source of the spill remains unknown, though officials suspect it may have come from the south and moved northward. The oil appears to be diesel-like rather than thick crude oil, making cleanup difficult.

Multiple agencies including Sjöräddningssällskapet and Kustbevakningen have joined the response effort. Officials hope that sunlight may help evaporate much of the spill.
