A storm named Therese is reportedly threatening the Canary Islands in Spain, with warnings issued for heavy rainfall through Sunday. According to unconfirmed reports from the news site Canarias7, Therese is the 19th storm of the season over the archipelago and could be the worst so far. Authorities have warned of potential flooding and landslide risks, particularly on Tenerife and La Palma.
On Tenerife, all hiking trails have been closed, and outdoor activities are being discouraged there and on Lanzarote. Schools across the Canary Islands have canceled all in-person attendance for the rest of the week. So far, only a few flights to or within the Canary Islands have been rerouted to other airports.
