Christina Seljebotn, an advisor at the County Governor of Vestfold and Telemark, said it may take several years to clear the forest. Several trails remain blocked by fallen trees, according to officials. The entire forest will not be cleared because dead trees are important for biodiversity, Seljebotn added.
The association Bøkeskogen og Kilens venner believes the cleanup is taking too long. It is unclear how much of the cleanup has been completed or when the forest will fully reopen.
