Stockholm Police have conducted a major operation against drug trafficking through postal distribution, resulting in the seizure of nearly half a million narcotic tablets along with amphetamines and other drugs. According to police reports, around 20 people have been detained in the Stockholm area, with several indictments expected.
The special operation, which took place between September last year and January this year, specifically targeted drug sellers. Operation leader John Lindström of Stockholm Police stated that focusing on sellers helps reduce the flow of narcotics in postal distribution.

The crackdown follows a 2023 legal amendment that allows postal workers to break confidentiality and alert police about letters and packages suspected of containing drugs. Two men have already been sentenced to long prison terms for serious drug offenses, with more cases pending. Police estimate the operation involved thousands of buyers across the country.
