Stockholm's 2026 flower program will be launched on April 13 at 11:30 at Hötorget. The theme for this year's program will be presented at the event and has been kept secret until then. Representatives from Stockholm's traffic office, including traffic director Gunilla Glantz, traffic councilor Lars Strömgren, and city gardener Elisabet Elfström, will be present.
The city plants tens of thousands of flowers in urns and beds across Stockholm each year, with plantings done in three phases: spring, summer, and autumn. Planning for the flower program begins years in advance, with flowers and plants selected based on a new annual theme that influences varieties and colors. Some flower species are chosen specifically for their attractiveness to pollinating insects.
Inspiration for the themes comes from the city's history, local environment, current events, or the wider world.
