Two schools from Stockholm County have reached the finals of the 2026 Swedish Championship in birdhouse building, according to public broadcaster SVT. Hagaskolan and Kvarnbackaskolan are among the 15 finalists selected from a record 977 entries submitted by school classes across Sweden. The competition, organized by Naturskyddsföreningen (the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation) since 2008, showcases creative birdhouse designs from students nationwide.

Hossan Almughrabi, an 11-year-old from Kvarnbackaskolan, expressed enthusiasm about the designs, stating they would 'definitely' move into the birdhouses if they were birds. Casper ten Siethoff, a 9-year-old from Hagaskolan in Vallentuna, revealed their team created an apple-shaped birdhouse. The finalists' creations are currently on display at Skansen in Stockholm, where visitors can view the innovative designs.
