A pilot project involving security guards working under police supervision will resume in Stockholm this spring. The project will take place in the districts of Skärholmen and Södermalm from April to September. According to police assistant Fredrik Holmström, the security guards will complement police resources and handle tasks suited to their role, allowing police to focus on duties requiring police expertise.
An earlier police evaluation found the pilot project successful, and the National Operational Department will analyze the results to determine if it could become a permanent solution. The aim is for the security guards to work on crime prevention and safety enhancement.
