Region Stockholm is expanding its offer of free TBE vaccination to more children starting May 1, 2026. The free vaccination, previously available for three-year-olds, will now include children born between 2018 and 2023. TBE is a serious viral disease spread by ticks, and Stockholm County is a risk area with many cases.
The free vaccination covers all doses in the vaccination program up to the year the child turns 18. More age groups will be included gradually, with children born in 2024 added in 2027 and those born in 2025 added in 2028. Vaccination is offered at vaccination clinics that vaccinate on behalf of Region Stockholm, and child health centers will inform guardians about the opportunity for free vaccination.
