Its architectural significance was highlighted in spring 2024 when Time Out included it in a list of the world's 100 most beautiful cinemas.

Previous Swedish recipients of the award include Hovs Hallar, the location used for the opening scene of Ingmar Bergman's 'The Seventh Seal'; the Bergmancenter on Fårö; Tjolöholm Castle, which featured in Lars von Trier's 'Melancholia'; and the film studios in Gamla Filmstaden. The cinema is currently operated by the Stockholm Film Festival.
