According to an investigation conducted by Härjedalens municipality, there is no risk that falling rock blocks from Funäsdalsberget would reach the planned housing development in Funäsdalen. The investigation shows that if the existing protective barrier is extended by approximately 30 meters and some loose blocks on Funäsdalsberget are removed, falling rocks cannot reach the planned residential area. This finding means the new detailed plan for the development can proceed to review.
The municipality has decided to implement these measures as soon as possible. The planned development, which involves 50 new apartments south of the church in Funäsdalen, was previously halted by the county administrative board in January 2025 due to rockfall safety concerns.
