The Swedish Transport Agency (Transportstyrelsen) has confirmed the damage and conducted inspections on the vessel. The ferry reportedly experienced problems after a mooring line broke during gusty winds, requiring assistance from multiple tugboats to reach the dock.
Diving inspections have been and continue to be conducted on the Stena Spirit at Verköhamnen. The ferry is currently prohibited from leaving its berth, resulting in continued delays for the Karlskrona-Gdynia ferry route. Inspections began on Wednesday and are continuing into Thursday to assess the full extent of the damage.
