Stefan Thomson has ended his role as coach of the Swedish women's cross-country ski team. He reportedly made the decision to leave after eight years in the position, which included two Olympic Games and several World Championships. Thomson cited the extensive travel involved, stating he had done over 200 travel days per year and a total of around 1,600 travel days during his tenure, which he said took a toll.
He expressed a desire to spend more time at home in Piteå, Sweden, and mentioned that his ambition is to continue working with some skiers. The announcement was made on a Tuesday, with Thomson reportedly having decided to leave before the season started, feeling it was the right time to end after a good Olympic performance.
