Sports retailer Stadium has officially begun construction on a massive new warehouse facility in Norrköping, according to local reports. The new logistics center, measuring 40,800 square meters, will double the company's existing storage capacity at the Herstaberg site near the E4 highway. Construction is reportedly underway with completion expected after summer 2027.
Daniel Johansson, Stadium's logistics director, stated that the facility will feature 240 robots working alongside human staff. "Here, 240 robots will collaborate with our personnel. It will be a cooperation between human and machine," Johansson was quoted as saying in local media reports.

The construction project is being handled by Slättö, which has been tasked with bringing the development to fruition. The project reportedly began with initial discussions in December 2020, followed by a 2.5-year planning period for detailed development changes.
Local political leader Olle Vikmång (S), chairman of the municipal board, referenced the lengthy approval process with the comment "five years and 600 water salamanders later," indicating environmental considerations that needed to be addressed before construction could proceed.
