In a World Cup table tennis match in Macao, Sora Matsushima of Japan defeated Sweden's Truls Möregårdh in four straight sets. Matsushima, who is ranked eighth in the world, took the lead early and maintained it throughout the match, winning the sets 11-7, 11-7, 11-8, and 11-1. Möregårdh, the world number two, showed frustration during the game, including in a timeout where he said Matsushima was ten times better than him.
This was Matsushima's first win against Möregårdh after four previous losses. In the semifinals, Matsushima will face Lin Yun-Ju of Taiwan.
