Key Points
  • A Piper PA-28 training plane crashed into two homes in north Phoenix while attempting to land at Deer Valley Airport.
  • Three people were injured and hospitalized: a flight instructor, a student pilot, and a homeowner.
  • Rescue officials called it a miracle that no one in the surrounding area was seriously injured given the residential location.

A small training aircraft crashed into two residential homes in north Phoenix on Wednesday morning, March 4, 2026, injuring three people. According to reports from TV4 Nyheterna and Euronews, the Piper PA-28 aircraft was attempting to land at nearby Deer Valley Airport when it crashed shortly before 7:30 AM local time.

The plane struck two houses before coming to rest nose-down in a backyard, with one wing detaching during the impact. Emergency responders transported three individuals to hospitals: a flight instructor, a student pilot, and a homeowner who was inside one of the struck residences. The instructor and student reportedly sustained minor cuts and burns but were conscious when rescue crews arrived.

Todd Keller of the Phoenix rescue service described the incident as "a miracle" that no one in the surrounding area was seriously injured, given that multiple homes were involved in a residential neighborhood where people come and go. The aircraft ended up positioned near a swimming pool behind one of the homes, with debris scattered across the property and onto a roof.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched investigations to determine the cause of the crash. The American Red Cross is assisting families whose homes were damaged in the incident.
