Biathlete Emilien Jacquelin has ended his World Cup season after winning an Olympic gold and a bronze in Antholz. He will now switch from rifle and skis to cycling for six months to become a professional cyclist. Jacquelin will join the team Decathlon-CMA CGM from May 1, though he will be part of its development team, which participates in races like the Giro d'Italia and Tour de France.
The 30-year-old Frenchman, who has cycled since childhood, says he wants to live out a childhood dream and step outside his comfort zone. This period from May 1 to September 30 is intended as preparation for the next World Cup season and aligns with his focus on the 2030 Olympic Games in the French Alps. Jacquelin has an Olympic gold and five World Championship golds on his record and finished fifth in the overall World Cup last season.
