Skellefteå back Jonathan Pudas was injured in the first period of the SHL semifinal game against Luleå in Skellefteå, Sweden. According to reports, he left the ice and did not return for the rest of the game. The injury reportedly occurred when Pudas was pressured by Luleå's Pontus Andreasson and took a hit to his right knee.
Pudas, who led all SHL defensemen in points during the regular season with 47 points in 48 games, is reportedly at risk of missing the remainder of the semifinal series. In a separate incident, Skellefteå's Oscar Lindberg fell after a slashing from Andreasson in the sixth period, with Luleå's assistant coach Henrik Stridh describing it as a 'dying swan'. Skellefteå's coach Daniel Hermansson called Stridh's comments 'overdramatic', while Andreasson reportedly said it was a tap on the shin guard and that Lindberg played in the next shift.
