A couple from Skåne, Sweden, has been sentenced to prison by the Court of Appeal (hovrätten) for impersonating various Swedish celebrities on social media and soliciting money from victims. According to reports, the couple pretended to be different Swedish celebrities online and then asked for money from their followers.

The Court of Appeal reduced the sentence for the woman from the original two years and four months imposed by the District Court (tingsrätten) to one year in prison. The man received the same sentence as in the District Court: two years and ten months in prison along with deportation from Sweden.

The couple was reportedly charged last autumn with serious fraud against eight individuals who were misled by their scheme. Both sources indicate the fraud affected a total of eight victims who were deceived by the couple's impersonation tactics.
