  • The employee admits to the events but denies committing a crime.

An employee at Akademiska Hospital in Uppsala has been charged with causing another person's death following a patient's death in July 2023. The elderly female patient was prescribed a nutritional drip that was supposed to be administered evenly over twelve hours using an infusion pump. However, the employee allegedly set the pump to deliver the drip in just one hour.

When alarms later sounded, the same person reportedly restarted the pump without checking why it was alarming. This led to the patient developing a fat embolism in the lung and dying. The employee admits to the sequence of events but denies any crime.

SVT has sought comment from Akademiska Hospital.
