Sjöbo municipality has acknowledged installing a security camera system in an elderly woman's apartment without proper consent, according to a report in Skånska Dagbladet. The incident occurred when craftsmen entered the locked apartment of an elderly resident at one of Sjöbo's care facilities, despite no consent form having been signed. A consent form had been sent out two days earlier but was never returned or signed.
Roland Wiking (S), chairman of Sjöbo municipality's care and welfare committee, admitted the mistake during the latest committee meeting. "We missed collecting the consent, so it's true that we installed this system without approval," Wiking stated. The municipality now faces questions about how the security system could be installed without proper authorization.
