Six buses banned after Tryvann inspections
Key Points
  • Six of ten inspected buses were banned due to faults.
  • New regulations for russebusser introduced this year.
  • Tryvannstreffet has over 40 years of history with a new organizer.

Inspector Daniel Abrahamsen said technical faults ranged from slow-retracting seatbelts to more serious issues. New regulations for russebusser have been introduced this year, and two buses from Ålesund were de-registered earlier in the week. Four buses had crowns on the roof that needed removal or approval before continuing. The banned buses were allowed to drive to the Tryvann parking lot but cannot leave until faults are fixed.

Tryvannstreffet, first organized in 1980, has a new organizer after the previous one went bankrupt in 2019. In 2018, one event was cancelled and several russ did not receive refunds. About 8,000 russ are expected, and police have deployed extra resources. Police superintendent Øystein Holten said the resources are sufficient for the expected crowd.
